Broken Head is the first headland south of Cape Byron, just over 7 kms from the town centre and at the end of a bush road through stunning Littoral Rainforest. Broken Head has preserved its unspoilt image to the point that you could believe you were a million miles away from civilisation. A walking track over the headland leads to a string of isolated beaches and coves whilst offering unbeatable views of the unspoilt vegetation, several rock formations and the Pacific Ocean on the way. The prominent smaller headlands within the Broken Head Nature Reserve protect the forest well with its Banksias and Tuckeroos forming a shield for the rainforest thriving in the moist gullies behind them. Pack a picnic, cook up a storm on the barbecue and enjoy the day swimming and walking. Play a game of beach cricket, relax with your fishing rod or just sit under a shady tree and laze away the day with a good book. The opportunities are limited by your imagination only! Spend your time as a castaway, swimming and picnicking at White’s Beach or surfing where the locals surf at a number of points and coves accessible only by foot or water. Surrounded by bushland, a small number of houses enjoy a beautiful natural setting with access to miles of unspoilt coastland. And if a trip into Byron feels like more than you can possibly handle, daily essentials are available at the Broken Head Caravan Park or head to nearby Suffolk Park with its excellent bakery, pub and restaurants.
